The president and co-owner of Godsell Construction Corporation, Arthur Godsell is a part of several local nonprofit organizations and committees. Since 1995, Arthur Godsell has been involved with the Long Island Association (LIA), a civic and business organization.
Founded in 1926 with the goal of supporting growth and economic development on Long Island, the LIA’s 2014 priorities and initiatives focus on policies, critical issues, and projects that benefit the community. Working closely with other organizations and businesses, the LIA promotes everything from infrastructure to rental housing development initiatives. The LIA works with the Association for a Better Long Island, Long Island Builders Institute, and Long Island Contractors’ Association to expand sewer capacity and create construction jobs in the community. It supports bus route expansion and builds regional support for both the Long Island MacArthur Airport and Long Island Rail Road. The LIA also invests in local energy infrastructure and maintains several academic institutions that participate in Start-Up NY. Beyond its construction efforts for 2014, the Association supports water and environmental protection efforts. Through its relationships with environmental organizations and real estate communities, the LIA expands sustainable agriculture and determines what lands to protect.
