With locations in New York, Long Island, and New Jersey, the center has been leading treatment programs, research initiatives, and educational events for more than 100 years. In February 2021, MSK announced the formation of a new endowed chair as well as several fellowships promoting health equity and diversity. The Nicholls-Biondi Chair is established based on a seven-million-dollar gift from Jamie C. Nicholls and her husband O. Francis Biondi. The endowed chair will work on improving health equity for cancer patients, especially those from medically underserved communities. MSK appointed gynecologic surgeon, Dr. Carol Brown as the first Nicholls-Biondi chair. The multimillion-dollar gift will also go towards funding the Nicholls-Biondi Diversity Clinical Scientist Fellowships for Academic Careers in Cancer Research. The fellowships target underrepresented voices in science whose work revolves around drug discovery.
